iPhone tariffs ? Tesco steps up pressure

Tesco has always been slightly off-the-wall with its iPhone tariffs, which has been a strong point in its competitive quest with the other UK-based iPhone suppliers. Now Tesco has introduced a series of new 12 month iPhone price plans.

The new tariff asks you to pay just £35 per month for the new 12 month tariff. Of course, to get the figure down to that initial level, you’re looking at a fairly hefty, upfront, pay out for the hardware: iPhone 3G 8GB for £100, iPhone 3GS 16GB for £200 or iPhone 3GS 32GB for £275. Once you have paid that upfront, one-off, cost, however, the 12 month tariff includes 750 free voice minutes, which is pretty generous plus an equally generous unlimited texts and  data/Wi-Fi. If you can summon up the initial cost, this is a great value tariff.

Alternatively, a free 3GS, 16GB phone can be grabbed on a 24 month tariff along with unlimited calls, texts, data and Wi-Fi. That costs £45 per month. Again, another great value tariff when compared to the competition.

Lance Batchelor, Chief Executive Officer of Tesco Telecoms and Tesco Mobile commented, "Tesco Mobile’s iPhone tariffs have been very popular. We’ve now made them even better, with a lower upfront cost for iPhone and a new 12-month contract."
