The launch of the Apple iPad has, thus far, been a great success. In fact, the company has been bragging of a first day sales figure of around 300,000 units sold. However, this 10in unit may, for some people, be a tad too large. If so, where do you turn? The competition, probably. Hence, the word is from a range of observers including the DigiTimes website, that Apple is working on a new iPad that will feature a smaller form factor – possibly a 5” or 7” screen.
Targeted, say insiders, at a 2011 launch, the new iPad would probably retail for $400 instead of the cheapest currently available iPad model of $500.
Apparently, the smaller iPad would not focus so much on text input but would major on reading and thus looks to be more of a direct competitor to the Amazon Kindle et al.
