APP WATCH: OpenTable on the iPhone

Taking the hassle out of booking a table for a restaurant, the OpenTable app aims to personalise and improve your dining experience. With over 700 UK restaurants (350 in London alone) already on their database, customers can search by name or in proximity to their current location. The OpenTable app has access to menus, diner feedback and photographs as well as enabling you to book online. Each time you book with the OpenTable app, you’ll be rewarded with 100 dining points. Save these up and you’ll be able to exchange them for dining vouchers at any restaurant on OpenTable’s database. Users should keep their eyes peeled for those restaurants that for a limited period offer 1,000 points.

Users are encouraged to set up a profile, which in turn enables OpenTable to record your preferences each time you dine, be it a preferred table or favourite wine. OpenTable will then send you relevant promotions and offers. In addition, restaurant staff will be familiar with your likes and dislikes, thus accommodating you and improving your overall experience.

OpenTable for the iPhone is available to download from the Apple App Store or from OpenTable’s website. There is also a version of the app for BlackBerry’s, Android handsets and the Palm Pre.
