APP WATCH: Google launches Maps version 4.1

Google has decided to update its Maps app and has released it as version 4.1. The improved app includes an array of new features and is aimed at those mobile phone users who are running the Android operating system at version 1.6 or higher.

New features include Search’n’Swipe which removes the tabbed information to provide all the information you require on a single page. You just tap the new buttons to view your chosen map location or see it in Street View. You are also able to receive directions to it or even initiate a voice call to that location. You can then swipe the screen to access more results.

The Latitude Widgets feature allows you to see the friends closest to you as well as monitoring the latest traffic conditions without having to open the full Maps app. The app also introduces more comprehensive syncing abilities.
