Orange has unveiled a new platform that enables customers from all networks to download the latest titles from HMV’s gaming portfolio. Currently offering over 400 titles, including the likes of FIFA Manager 10, Call of Duty MW2, Tetris and PAC-MAN, games will range from between £1 to £5, while customers will also be able to download demos for free.
To get playing, customers need to text ‘HMV’ to 87010 when they will then receive a text back with a link saying hmv mobile. By clicking on this link, customers will have access to HMV’s gaming library as well as read reviews and previews of the latest games.
What’s especially nice of Orange is that they have also made the service available to all other networks, working on over 1,000 Java enabled handsets. While any purchases Orange customers make will simply be added to their bill, or deducted from their prepay account, customers of other networks will be charged for each individual game via a ‘Pay For It’ billing system.
It’s not the first time Orange and HMV have joined forces, after the latter installed concessions in up to 100 stores.
HMV mobile games goes live from Friday 26th March. For more information, visit www.hmv.com/mobilegames.
