Operator 3 has just winged over a press release detailing its Sony Ericsson Vivaz offering, which includes bundled Spotify, the uber popular music streaming service. Well, kind of.
The Spotify app will come pre-installed on Sony Ericsson Vivaz handsets from 3, but unlike the operator's HTC Hero/Spotify deal, the contract does not include a discounted subscription to Spotify Premium, required to use the mobile app.
3 told us that 'there will be something in the future' and that the company is in ongoing discussions wtih Spotify to offer a deal. But for now, to get the Vivaz with Spotify, you'll have to grab the standard £35/month, 24-month contract and pony up an extra £9.99 a month for Spotify Premium.
Which, to put it into perspective, is what the rest of us do for our ad-free, CD-quality (320kbps) Spotify. The £35 tariff offers the phone for free, along with 750 any-network minutes, plus unlimited texts, internet, Skype and Windows Live Messenger.
3 also offers a six-month Spotify add-on for its Symbian phones, where you still pay the £9.99 monthly fee but as part of your mobile bill instead of to Spotify.
