HTC to release Touch Pro2 successor

HTC is readying itself for the launch of the successor to its own Touch Pro2 called, not unreasonably, the Touch Pro3. Apparently featuring a chassis that is not only smaller than the familiar Pro2 but also rather thinner, observers believe that the Touch Pro3 will be presented as a mid-range handset at best. The reasoning behind that is the included operating system. Reports say that the new Pro3 will include Microsoft’s Windows Mobile 6.5.3 and logic follows that only high–end designs will include the forthcoming Windows Phone 7 Series OS.

That said, there are rumours that, unlike the company’s own HD2, the HTC Touch Pro3 will be capable of an upgrade to the new WP7S operating system.

According to the WMPoweruser website, the new design will include Wi-Fi, GPS, a 3.2-megapixel camera and a 600MHz CPU. There is some disagreement, however, whether the new phone will feature a WQVGA screen or, in fact, a higher resolution model. More details when we receive them.
