Parents are being advised to take added precautions when buying their children mobile phones. More and more youngsters have their own mobile phones with thousands of text messages and phone calls being made between them. However, as a sad reflection of the world we live in, there's growing concern at an increase in text bullying or even children being groomed by potential predators. Child safety specialists Crisp Thinking has teamed up with mobile telecommunications firm aql and developed a new mobile service aimed at reducing these risks.
With experience in policing bullying and suspect messaging in online chat rooms and gaming portals, Crisp's mobile software identifies specific patterns and characteristics and alerts parents via text advising them to check their child's phone.
The technology will be enabled from this summer on Crisp SIMs that with the aid of aql will operate as an MVNO on 3's network. However, it is understood that there is growing interest from other operators.
