LG has announced that it’s low-cost mobile phone, the Pop GD510, has reached a grand total of 1 million units sold. Released into Europe during October of last year, the Pop might not be as small as the forthcoming Mini GD880, but is a small phone for a handset with a 3in screen, GSM connectivity, a 3.2-megpixel camera and social netwoking integration. The Pop also arrives with an optional solar powered battery cover, adding 2 minutes of extra talk time for 10 minutes of sun-based charging.
“From the start we based the LG Pop on customer needs, leading us to create a compact and intuitive touchscreen phone that wasn’t weighed down by useless features,” said Dr. Skott Ahn, President and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company to the Korean Newswire website. “LG Pop offers most of the benefits of a smartphone without the steep learning curve. There’s still a huge market out there for phones that do everything right out of the box.”
Expect the Pop to appear in two new colours from this March: lime and aqua blue.
