We were told by those pesky rumour mills that Nokia's very first 12-megapixel phone would be the N87. Now it appears that the long awaited handset is nearing an actual release and will be called the N8. Apparently, the N8 should be here in the first half of this year and will be the first Nokia phone to feature the Symbian^3 operating system.
Other rumoured features should include a 3.5-inch capacitive touch-screen, video recording at 720p HD quality, a HDMI port and a new video-on-demand service that will be made available via the Ovi Store.
Nokia also intimated that a new naming scheme will be introduced soon for the entire phone range. Apparently, the Cseries will be applied to low-end voice phones, Xseries for entertainment, Eseries for business, Nseries for high-end phones and Sseries for top of the range, choice items.
Expect the manufacturer to announce a few goodies in a major press conference at Mobile World Congress on Monday.
