Dell to release Internet tablet

Quite apart from its laptop business, news recently reached us that Dell is to have an additional mobile presence in the UK with the forthcoming launch of the Dell Mini 3i. Now, alongside LG's recent announcement, Dell is looking to launch a MID (Mobile Internet Device) although the company isn't calling it that. Words such as "tablet" and "slate" are being bandied around instead.

Semantics aside, the new design features its own SIM card slot and a screen spanning 5in, providing plenty of room to work on and view multiple windows. Reports say that the device also includes a built-in camera sporting a good specification of 5-megapixels. The entire tablet will be run on the Android operating system, according to the Pocket-lint website

There are no distribution or price details as yet but, as the Mini 3i is on the way to the UK shores, should we also expect to see this MID? There are no release dates although observers have stated that "this year" looks likely.
