Palm has decided to show the 'fun' side of its personality by adding games to its portfolio, in addition to other paid apps. And not just any games, but 3D titles straight from the likes of EA Mobile, Glu Mobile, Gameloft and Laminar Research. Available from Palm's own App Catalog (currently filled with around 1,000 apps), the new titles will include: Need for Speed Undercover, The Sims 3, MONOPOLY, Asphalt 5: Elite Racing, Let's Golf!, Glyder 2 and X-Plane.
In related news, Palm has announced the beta version of its WebOS PDK (Plug-in Development Kit) that includes extra features for use in 3D games, funnily enough.
On the subject of apps, Palm has also declared that its developer program is now open, so anyone interested in developing an app can do so. The company is even fronting a cash prize for the most downloaded apps.
Finally, look out for a free copy of Adobe's Flash Player 10.1 for WebOS, which will appear in the next few months to enable WebOS users to access Flash content.
Finally, finally - those users interested in recording and editing video via WebOS should keep an eye open for the forthcoming WebOS 1.40 OS upgrade, due later this year.
