You know, if legendary multi-millionaire recluse and hygiene freak, Howard Hughes, had been alive today, he wouldn't be able to smile wide enough. The reason is the imminent announcement of the Seal Shield mobile phone which has been touted as the first dishwasher safe mobile phone. And that's not a 'tough phone' claim or a waterproof boast like the Sony Ericsson C702. This headline is part of an active encouragement to actually clean the phone on a regular basis in the dishwasher or sink to prevent the spread of germs and viruses (virii?)
To emphasise the fact, the chassis includes antimicrobial protection, which means that it is tough against mold and tough against the causes of mold as well as any odours causing bacteria. There's nothing worse than a smelly telephone.
This quad-band GSM phone with a tough touchscreen, includes GPS, Bluetooth and a dual SIM facility. It also includes MMS, a walkie-talkie option, a torch feature and a basic 2-megapixel camera.
The phone will be revealed at the international Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, USA, which starts today and runs through to January 11th. No price has been mooted as yet.
