Google has announced a press conference based around the Android operating system for January 5th. The company has refused to go into any more details about the event apart from bullish remarks about how, just a year since the original G1 phone appeared on the market, that, "...we've seen how a powerful, open platform can spur mobile product innovation. And this is just the beginning of what's possible." However, observers are confident that the much talked about Nexus One mobile phone will make an appearance too, according to the Engadget website.
In related news, direct from the USA, T-Mobile has revealed its pricing plans for the new handset which will offer the Nexus One for $530 as a stand-alone handset or for $180 with a two year contract. However, in both scenarios, you have to buy your phone direct from Google. It's unknown whether we, in the UK, will have to follow a similar system.
Significantly, however, the new US-based price plans are cheaper than the associated offers for Apple's iPhone.
