ZTE is on the move again. We've already seen the company produce handsets for the likes of 3 in the UK and, more recently, leaked images of the Vodafone 545 were published here, showing a cheap, smartphone-like design in 'dumb' clothing.
Well, ZTE is to continue its playful ways by producing a new mobile phone that looks like a BlackBerry - or is that an old Palm Centro? - but...isn't. Seemingly produced by sleight of hand, the new ZTE X990 features a full QWERTY keyboard and, if people don't look too closely and squint a bit, may even pass muster down the pub as a super expensive smartphone.
The landscape screen design, possibly featuring a QVGA resolution, will include a web browser with a dedicated hardware key – a nice touch. According to the Unwired website, you'll also find more standard but just as essential features such as Bluetooth and an MP3 player, plus a 3.5mm headphone socket.
Observers believe Vodafone will pick up the design but there's no news on price or a release date.
