Orange UK has revealed a new service for the Samsung Omnia mobile phone called Business Homescreen and, at the same time, has claimed record breaking sales for its first day sales of the Apple iPhone.
Apart from offering GPS or Orange Maps for navigation and the latest news received real time using the Reuters news service widget, available on the Orange Widget Player, the new Business Homescreen service will, "...also include the ability to prioritise icons, saving time and making it easier for business users to access the services that make doing business easier for them. In addition, users can create a VIP contacts menu - keeping those vital customer contacts just one click away; businesses can also create shortcuts on the homescreen, making it quicker to get that all important travel update or ISS feed," said the company.
The record breaking iPhone sales were announced via a Twitter message that declared that Orange had sold more than 30,000 iPhone 3GS smartphones on the opening day of sale, breaking, said the company, all previous British records for a first day sale of any mobile. What of 3 and Vodafone then? Both companies are also due to sell the Apple phone in early 2010.
