HTC has announced that its recently released mobile phone, the HTC Hero, will be its first handset to feature Android 2.0 along with complete Sense user interface integration.
The announcement was derived from a slightly unexpected source - Twitter. In an understandably brief statement, the company declared that, "The rumors are true! Hero will be getting an Eclair update. We ask for your patience as we update Sense for the fancy new Android OS."
We recently reported that HTC had an early version of the new Android operating system and would be integrating the updated OS into its product line - this text obviously confirms that rumour.
To date, the only other mobile device to openly integrate the Android 2.0 OS is Motorola's recently announced Droid mobile phone. Observers expect more handsets to not only initially appear with the new OS but current designs to feature bolt-on upgrades.
