ARM, the creators of processors that dominate the mobile phone field and that are to be found in most phones on the market has announced the ARM Cortex A5, a multicore CPU.
Time and technology march onwards. We've already seen new announcements from the likes of Texas Instruments and Samsung, now this new chip from ARM has been described by the company as, ""the smallest, lowest power ARM multicore processor capable of delivering the Internet to the widest possible range of devices." In addition, it doubles the power efficiency of previous chips.
And what does that mean for the mobile user? Faster, better quality user interfaces - especially when dealing with the Internet, a chip that can do a lot more, freeing up internal space for other features and the lowering of costs meaning cheaper phones or, alternatively, similarly priced phones that will offer far better value in their feature list.
