Samsung's new eco phone, the Blue Earth S7750, has been launched by the company, initially in Sweden but other European territories will follow soon.
Samsung says that the new design is constructed from PCM or Post Consumer Material, which is recycled material that is extracted from water bottles. The result is 'green' in that it doesn't contaim harmful substances such as Phthalate, BFR (Brominated Flame Retardants) and PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride).
According to Samsung, the new user interface (which is based upon TouchWiz) introduces an, " Eco mode... screen brightness, backlight duration and Bluetooth can be set to an energy-efficient mode with just one click. The Eco Walk function allows users to count their steps with a built in pedometer and calculate the reduction in CO2 emission realized by walking as opposed to using a motor vehicle. This unique function allows users to see the value of walking by calculating the number of trees that have been saved."
Featuring a solar panel on the rear of the chassis, other features include HSDPA, Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, stereo FM radio, 3.2MP camera and microSD card support
