The new Vertu luxury phone, the first model to arrive within a clamshell form factor, has now been officially announced.
The new phone is to be known as the Vertu Constellation F Ayxta - the latter not being the simplest of names to quote if you wish to pop down to your local Vertu dealer and request one over the counter, it has to be said.
The new phone has been created from a range of expensive and exclusive materials such as stainless steel, ceramic, leather, aerospace grade aluminum parts and, for the display itself, sapphire crystal.
The Ayxta will feature a fast data transfer facility via the built in 3G/HSDPA feature, GPS for location finding, microSD card support, a 3-megapixel camera with dual LED flash and a new app called City Brief that provides, according to the Sybarites website, "...restaurant recommendations, the latest exhibitions, shopping guides and important cultural etiquette tips." You also receive exclusive ringtones recorded by UK-based band Zero 7.
Prices range between €4,900 and €6,500 depending on the materials featured on the chassis.
