LG has officially announced the forthcoming release of the GW300 mobile phone into the UK market. The phone, which is expected very soon but has not received an official release date, is to be handled by O2 (which will offer the phone in 'Electric Blue') and Orange, (which will supply the handset in 'Vibrant Red').
First seen here in July of this year, the new GW300 includes support for social networking such as full QWERTY keyboard (unlike the new Etna, the GW300 offers a fixed candybar chassis), a Facebook application, email and, according to LG, "... LiveSquare, which allows all your favourite contacts to show up on your homescreen as avatars, so when a friend sends you a message, their avatar will immediately let you know."
Other features include a 2.4in display at QVGA resolution. Bluetooth 2.1 for the wireless connection of accessories, 3.5mm headphone socket which will be good news for music fans, FM radio plus a 2-megapixel camera with video reocording. The low, 10MB, of internal memory can be bolstered via the featured microSD card that supports up to 4GB of memory.
No price point has been mooted as yet.
