Samsung is planning to release a new mobile phone that will be based on a sliding form factor and will have the ability to slide in two directions.
The new handset will be known as the Samsung M3310 and, like the F400, will be of most interest to music fans because it will include a dedicated speaker system that is exposed after sliding the handset screen, according to the Mobile Whack website.
Using a standard alphanumeric keypad interface, the chassis includes extra keys dedicated to music operations. The TFT screen is based on a QVGA resolution and has the ability to display 65k colours. Measuring 101.8 x 46.9 x 15.9 mm and weighing in at 94g, the new M3310 also includes a FM radio for entertainment plus a built in camera with a reasonable 3.2-megapixels specification and a microSD card slot to bolster the low 40MB of memory.
The initial release will be in Asia but observers are looking for other territory launches later. No price was revealed.
