LG has just announced its first ever Android smartphone. To be known as the LG GW620 Etna, it will feature a sliding QWERTY keyboard.
Arriving soon after the announcement of the GW550 and the GM750 handsets, the new Etna will be coupled with a TFT touchscreen spanning 3in and packing in 320 x 480 pixels. Based on quad-band GSM connectivity (850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 MHz), the phone will include a fast data transfer HSDPA facility plus Wi-Fi and GPS. A 3.5mm headphone socket will also be available along with Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP, a stereo FM radio and a 5-megapixel camera.
Dr. Skott Ahn, President and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company said that, "Our objective is to provide a wide selection of smartphones to satisfy the diverse preferences of today's consumers. This Android phone is just one of many smartphone models we plan to introduce worldwide in the years ahead."
Expect a pre-Christmas release into several European markets. No projected price was available, however.
