LG has no sooner seen its new Chocolate phone hit the shelves and revealed its new Windows phone then its proceeded to announce the forthcoming release of its first smartphone mobile phone based upon the Android operating system and it looks like Vodafone will be the first supplier to offer the handset for sale.

The new handset, which is to be known as the LG Etna, has been officially unveiled at the IFA 2009 show in Berlin, Germany. Offering a sliding QWERTY keyboard - ideal for those who frequently email or who enjoy participating on social network sites such as Facebook - the new Etna also includes a 3in touchscreen.

Other features for the new LG design are fairly scant. However, according to the Phandroid website, the Etna also includes BLuetooth for connections to wireless accessories such as a headset plus a USB port. You also receive a built in camera with a good specification of 5-megapixels.
