The HTC Touch HD is about to be upgraded to HD2 status and will run on the Android operating system.
We've only just digested the news of the forthcoming release of the HTC Touch2 and the Touch Pro2 but now a third sequel is about to hit the market as the Touch HD stands ready for a revamp.
Details for the new release include that late, unexpected change to the Android OS - no great surprise when you consider the company's affection for the OS via its Magic, G1 and Hero phones. Previously, observers expected the OS to be Windows Mobile (6.1 - not 6.5). The new HD2, which will retain the current 3.8in screen, will feature an uprated CPU rising up from a 528Mhz processor to 628Mhz via Qualcomm, a welcome move. There are no other changes announced as yet, according to the RegHardware website.
The release date is expected to be early next year. No price details have yet been announced.
