Microsoft has announced that the first selection of mobiles phones to be powered by its new operating system, Windows Mobile 6.5, will be released to the public on October 6th.
Microsoft stated that, in Europe, Orange, Vodafone and Deutsche Telekom (T-Mobile) will all have phones based on the OS from the likes of Samsung, LG, Sony Ericsson, HTC, Toshiba and Acer.
"A Windows phone gives people a single phone that works for their whole life, keeping them connected to the people and information they care most about by harnessing the power of the PC, phone and Web," said Todd Peters, corporate vice president of the Mobile Communications Marketing Group at Microsoft.
In addition to built-in Adobe Flash Lite support, associated services, connected to Windows Mobile 6.5, that many will be looking forward to include MyPhone (to automatically back up and sync photos, music, contacts and text messages from their phone to the Web) and Windows Marketplace for Mobile.
