We knew it was coming, but now we can openly talk about it without fear of reprisals. Sony Ericsson has officially unveiled the XPERIA X2 and as we predicted it will be running on the new Windows Mobile 6.5 platform, following in the footsteps of the HTC Touch2 announced earlier today. As with the original XPERIA, the pièce de résistance is the customisable panel screen, this time preloaded with 14, though a further 16 can be downloaded. Each panel represents a particular feature, be it Skype or CNN. Furthermore, users can edit their panels so that they change depending on the time of day. The SlideView feature is also a new addition that provides quick access to frequently used phone activities.
Other features include a full QWERTY keyboard, 3.2-inch touch-screen, Wi-Fi, A-GPS, HSDPA and an 8.1-megapixel camera.
The Sony Ericsson XPERIA X2 will be available exclusively to Vodafone in Black or Silver from early Q4.
