We're at Nokia World 2009 and President/CEO Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo is just wrapping up his introduction speech.
The main aim for Nokia this year is 'connectivity' - so we're going to be seeing a lot of development in Nokia services Ovi Suite, Comes With Music, and Life Tools, currently India only but OPK says plans to expand 'soon'. New services coming up: So-Lo - a combo of socila netowrking and location based services which will bring together Ovi, Facebook and Nokia Maps; and Nokia Money which offers users financial services from their phones.
Device-wise, Nokia is divergng into three distinct areas - phones, smartphones, and mobile computers. Announced already are the super-charged internet phone N900 on open-source Linux based Maemo OS, and the 3G Booklet, Nokia's first foray into high-performance mobile computers. "They're natural next steps," said Kallsvuo. "Multiple platforms for multiple needs.' He also describes the N900 as 'best browser device ever' - we'll let you know what we think in our hands-on review, coming up later today.
