O2 and Telmap have teamed up to provide customers with GPS-enabled handsets access to Telmap's Navigator service. Customers will be able to enjoy in-car 3D maps with text-to-speech technology, traffic alerts complete with alternative route options, while pedestrians will be able to enjoy turn by turn walking directions. The service will also flag up Wi-Fi hotspots, O2 Academy venues, as well as restaurant listings and reviews.
Telmap Navigator will be available for a free trial for 14 days, with the subscription charge starting from £3.50 a month, depending on what package you choose. The subscription fee will be integrated into their monthly phone bill should they choose to continue with it after the trial. The first handset from O2 with Telmap Navigator embedded on it will hit stores this autumn. Existing customers will also be able to download the service as long as their handset is compatible.
