First there was Cupcake, now all users of Android mobile phones can look forward to another major update to the Android operating system with the release of the Donut software to developers.
The new update, which should not be viewed as Android version 2, is a universal implementation which means that all Android phones will be able to access it, including those users owning HTC Magic and T-Mobile G1 handsets, according to the BGR website.
A wide variety of improvements and enhancements will be featured in the new update including the introduction of multi-touch support, a new universal search utility to search for anything, anywhere on your handset, a text-to-speech option, automated backups for those who forget or can't be bothered and a redesigned camera utility.
Expect to find a wealth of new widgets too including new home screen toggle for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, screen brightness and more.
