Virgin Mobile to scrap data roaming charges?

Virgin Mobile is the latest network poised to do drop its roaming charges for data, thanks to an increase in its customers using the internet while overseas.

Currently, roaming in the EU would cost you £5 a megabyte on Virgin Mobile, while other operators such as 3 and Vodafone have recently cut roaming charges by a huge margin.

According to Mobile Today, a source close to the network said data is a 'weakness' of mobile virtual network operators (MVNOs) like Virgin Mobile. But with mobile broadband on the up and up, the happy side effect is that it's now economically viable for operators to drop roaming charges for data.
