Samsung's first Android phone launching on O2

All the manufacturers have talked the talk, but Samsung finally walks it with news that its first Android phone will launch on O2 in August.

According to Tech Radar, the i7500 Galaxy will run on the Android 1.5 operating system with Cupcake update to include on-screen keyboard and options to tweak themes. Hardware-wise, the phone packs a five-meg camera with flash, 8GB of internal and that all-important 3.5mm audio jack that was missing on the first two Android phones out, the T-Mobile G1 and Magic.

Though you'll be able to get the Galaxy for £499 at online seller King of Gadgets, there's no word on whether the Galaxy will be exclusive on contract to O2, which has already snagged the Palm Pre in addition to its existing exclusivity contract on the iPhone 3GS.
