Reports have reached us of a new mobile phone from Sony Ericsson that will be based upon the Android operating system. Sony Ericsson has already reported that it is working on a new design, based on Windows Mobile that is believed to be the new Xperia X2. This new Android iteration is seen by many observers to be the rumoured X5 model. Codenamed Rachael, the X5 is apparently to be powered by the Qualcomm QSD8250 Snapdragon that supports up to 1 GHz CPU, HD video decoding, 12-megapixel camera, GPS, broadcast TV and Wi-Fi support.
Exactly which of these specifications will arrive on the X5 is unknown. For example, it appears that the camera specification will not exceed 8-megapixels, according to he Mobile.nu website. No release or price details are available at the moment.
In related news, Sony Ericsson is also working on a strange looking design known as Kiki. Featuring a transparent display that can be viewed from both sides of the chassis, the design includes a smooth surface keypad. No more details are available at the moment.
