We've been invited to a 'special event' for the Toshiba TG01, which means the world's first smartphone to pack a 1Ghz chip is edging closer to UK launch.
In fact, it looks like the phone is launching at the event on Thu 9 July.
Reports are the O2 may be the carrier to initially receive the design. However, confirmation for that or the final price has yet to be received, according to Slashgear.
The Toshiba TG01 has an extremely tasty specs list - that 1Ghz chip (for comparison's sake, the iPhone 3GS packs but 600Mhz), 'world's largest' 4.1in WVGA touchscreen display, and though it's running on Windows Mobile 6.1 (despite 6.5 just about ready for business), it's also skinned with Toshiba's own very pretty, very slick 3D User interface.
Other highlights include HSDPA for fast data transfer, GPS for location finding, Wi-Fi for wireless internet connection, and a 3.2MP camera.
