Check out these first images of the HTC Firestone - follow-up to 2008's Touch HD. Though it's still yet-to-be-announced, word is that it will go head-to-head with Sony Ericsson's XPERIA X2 (though the Sony has a QWERTY keyboard), as both are said to be sporting eight megapixel cameras. Firestone is rumoured to be launching with Windows Mobile 6.5, the nearly-complete, somewhat improved and much prettier successor to Windows Mobile 6.1.
Other specs include a powerful 600Mhz CPU (on par with the iPhone 3G S), a speed-friendly 256MB of RAM, HSDPA and Wi-Fi, plus A-Gps. A sizeable 3.6-inch touchscreen at WVGA resolution suggests the phone will indeed be a media-friendly phone like the Touch HD. More from Thai website Sanook which claims a release date of August 2009.
