LG, in addition to formerly announcing the launch of the Viewty Smart and Crystal phones, has announced the forthcoming launch of a new smartphone, the LG GW550 which will run on the Standard edition of the Windows Mobile 6.1 operating system.
Resembling the popular Nokia E71 and using quad-band GSM connectivity and tri-band UMTS connectivity at 850 / 1900 /2100 MHz, the new handset features a candybar chassis containing a 2.4in display at QVGA resolution and fast data transfer facility via HSDPA running at a maximum 7.2Mbps, according to the Phone Arena website.
The phone, measuring 116 x 61.5 x 12mm and running on a 1,300 mAh battery, includes a built-in three-megapixel camera.
Despite the announcement, LG has yet to reveal how much the new mobile phone will cost and when it will be released onto the market. In addition, there are no details regarding a UK release.
