Speaking at this week's CommunicAsia tradeshow, during a press launch for the GM730, Viewty Smart and Crystal (pictured) handsets, LG also let slip that it is currently looking to release three mobile phones based upon the Android operating system sometime this year. Specific release times were unavailable but the source did divulge a 'late Q3' time period, which will likely mean sometime after September.
The designs must still be at a fairly early development stage because the LG source was unable - or unwilling - to reveal exactly what area of the market the models would be sold within. For example, the company was unsure if the new designs would feature the 3D S-Class user interface over the top of Android.
According to the Cnet website, one of the three phones will be positioned as a low cost Android variant. No further design or price details were available.
