With the iPhone 3G S set to arrive in stores this Friday 19 June, as a current iPhone user you may be feeling a tad peeved at being left behind. Well Carphone Warehouse is offering to buy your old handset, thus freeing up some much needed cash for the new variant, though O2 customers be warned, you will still need to buy yourself out of your existing contract.
According to Macworld, Carphone Warehouse will pay up to £100 for a first generation iPhone, £170 for an 8GB version of the iPhone 3G and £180 for the 16GB model. Carphone Warehouse has become the latest of a long line of companies offering a buy back scheme of old handsets.
With regards to the new iPhone 3G S, Carphone Warehouse is also claiming they had 6,000 people pre-registering their interest within two hours of the handset first being announced.
