Sony Ericsson has declared that, when it finally releases its long promised Android phone , the mobile will not feature the newly released Android 1.5 that is currently in demand as a software update but will rely on a wholly new iteration of the popular software, version 2.0.
This news obviously triggers numerous points and questions. Firstly, the fact the version 2.0 of the Android operating system is under development at all is news. Secondly, the fact that it would be positioned to appear first on a Sony Ericsson design and not, say, a Google-lead phone is intriguing. Thirdly, if version 2.0 is under development, the proposed release date of both phone and Android 2.0 is pretty swift.
Other news on the Sony Ericsson phone is brief but we do know that it will include a propriety interface that will sit on top of Android - in a similar implementation to Samsung's TouchWiz.
