Technology convergence, folks, that's why it's an economic possibility for companies like Acer, Asus and now ViewSonic to make phones.
Visual display manufacturer ViewSonic has just announced that it will launch a smartphone line, initially in China followed by Europe and America. Why not - you're doing things on your phone that only used to be possible on TVs and computers after all.
ViewSonic is known for its LCD monitors and TVs, projectors and smaller-scale screens as well, so we can probably expect some nifty looking smartphones. At least let's just hope they jazz their products up more than say, Acer's rather staid-looking launch line (right).
