An iPhone chat forum claims to have seen a screenshot of the next-gen iPhone that details what we can expect in terms of upgrades. Macrumors.com claims the phone will have faster processor speed, 600 MHz CPU (up from 400MHz), more RAM, 256MB (up from 128MB), a digital compass and a 3.2-megapixel camera complete with auto-focus. What's more Apple will also be raising the internal memory from a maximum of 16GB to 32GB.
Apparently despite these upgrades there will be no major changes to the size of the phone (there goes any hope of an iPhone Nano then), battery or screen. We wait for absolute confirmation on these specs, but all seem highly feasible. The next-gen iPhone is expected to be announced at Apple's annual World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC) when it takes place between 8-12 June in San Francisco.
