News from the East: Sharp wants to launch solar-charging phone too

Hot (haha!) on the heels of the Samsung's solar-powered Blue Earth phone, and LG's solar phone pitched for a year-end release, Japanese manufacturers AU and Sharp are proposing a phone with a solar panel on its lid.

According to Akihabara News, the phone requires 10 minutes' solar charging to provide one minute talk time or two hours on standby. The phone also seems waterproof, so it'll be perfect for all those times when... you're stranded in a really sunny place where there's danger of falling into a body of water?

Anyway, we like phones that can stand stuff being done to them, so this one sounds all right by us. Release date is June this year.
