Reports have been received that the new version of Microsoft's popular mobile operating system, Windows Mobile 6.5, will be officially launched at Microsoft's TechEd 2009 conference which will open its doors on May 11th.
Apparently, at the conference, developers will be given a full demonstration of the new operating system, including touch commands and gesture commands, along with an overview of planned feature changes, according to the electronista website.
Windows 6.5 is seen as a critical upgrade for the company, especially with the growing popularity of the iPhone interface and the forthcoming launch of the Palm Pre with its own WebOS operating system threatening to usurp the current version of Microsoft Mobile, version 6.1.
This will be a busy period for Microsoft. The same reports say that Microsoft will also be launching the pre-release version of its desktop Windows operating system, Windows 7, on May 5th.
