Rumoured to arrive with the HTC Magic, the patience of one uber-geek has been tested so much that they have ported the second generation Android platform over to their G1. An individual known only as Haykuro gives detailed tutorials on his blog on how to transfer the Android 1.5 "Cupcake" SDK to your G1 enabling you to record video, use speech recognition and an onscreen virtual keyboards. We haven't tried the software update ourselves, but the feedback given on the aforementioned blog is so far all positive.
The Android 1.5 "Cupcake" SDK platform is expected to come pre-embedded on the next Google Android device, the HTC Magic when it arrives exclusively to Vodafone on 1 May. This would make sense due to the fact it is solely operated by a touch-screen, unlike the T-Mobile G1 which also sports a slide-out QWERTY keyboard. Check out our exclusive HTC Magic video demo here.
