Virgin Media is offering one aspiring film maker the chance to make a name for themselves with the launch of the Mobile Shorts Awards. Record a 60 second short film with your mobile phone and submit it by 22 June and one lucky winner will not only win a top prize (though what is yet to be confirmed) but will also have their work viewed by millions of people via Virgin Media's mobile portal.
The editorial team here at Mobile Choice has been asked to assist in judging the entries, so we look forward to seeing your submissions. The competition will run in conjunction with Virgin Media Shorts 2009 which is running for the second consecutive year. Using an actual video camera as opposed to a mobile phone, submissions should be no longer than 2 minutes and 20 seconds with judges including Kevin Spacey and Bond girl Gemma Arterton. The winner of the Virgin Media Shorts will receive £30,000 funding as well as the chance to work with Virgin Media and the UK Film Council's New Cinema Fund.
The winner will be announced at a glitzy awards ceremony in central London on 22 September 2009. To enter your short film or for more information visit www.virginmediashorts.co.uk.
