Palm has announced the launch of a Palm emulator for the forthcoming Palm Pre
which will allow any user of the new Palm Pre to access older Palm OS applications. This will be a great relief to any dedicated Palm OS user who was thinking twice about moving to the new platform. The Unwired website team were given a demo of the Palm OS program, ePocrates, a medical application, running successfully on the Pre prototype whilst utilising the new emulator program.
The Palm Pre is said to feature Wi-Fi for wireless internet connection, HSDPA for fast data transfer, GPS for location finding, a 3-megapixel camera, 8GB of internal memory, a 3.5mm headphone socket which will please music fans and Palm's new oerating system, WebOS, which has received a lot of attention for its unique abilities - a purpose-built system based on Linux. No formal dates have been given for the release of the Palm Pre and no price points have yet been revealed.
