For once, Apple isn't doing the suing over some copyright issue or other. Swiss company Monec Holdings are taking the don of the iFamily to court over a marketing campaign that shows the iPhone and iPod Touch as e-readers.
According to Electricpig, Monec holds the patent for ‘An Electronic Device, preferably an Electronic Book', and are asserting that Apple have violated it by marketing its iThings as e-books through the use of various e-reading apps available for the devices. Apple stand accusesd of ‘patent infringement, monopolization and unfair trade practices'.
But who knows if the lawsuit will stick, because what about devices like Amazon's eReader Kindle?
