Daily freebie the Metro is paying its readers up to £180 for old mobile phones. The newspaper is encouraging people to recycle their phones rather than simply throw them away or gather dust in a drawer by offering a monetary reward for a select number of handsets. Users need to simply choose their handset from the list of phones provided and then decide whether they want to receive a cheque or as credit to retailers Argos with an additional 10% bonus thrown in for good measure. They will then receive a welcome pack with a recyclable bag to put the phone in and then send via freepost. Users will be able to track the progress of the phone online with payment made when the Metro has received the handset.
Some of the standout offers we came across included £118.09 for a Sony Ericsson C905, and £138.06 for an Apple iPhone 3G 16GB. Unfortunately if you wanted to recycle an Alcatel Mandarina Duck Phone for example you would only get £9.05.
