Samsung launches movie store for mobiles

Samsung Mobile just launched Samsung Movies, a movie store where Samsung phone users will be able to buy or rent movies to download to their phones.

Powered by content delivery service Acetrax, the store has over 1,000 movies and TV shows, including latest releases, hit series, and defunct-but-still-awesome shows available for download to compatible Samsung phones. Users will also get access to exclusive ‘first looks' content, which should excite all the Heroes et al fanboys out there.

The service is rolling out in the UK and Germany before other European markets later this year.

Given Samsung's recent string of video-friendly handsets with high-quality AMOLED screens and surround sound audio systems (hello, Tocco Ultra Edition), this seems a good next move. A first step towards that mainstream mobile TV future?

Movies start at £2.49 for 24-hour rental, or from £4.99 to own. Download from http://www.samsungmovies.com/.
