O2 reported to drop iPhone prices this Summer

As we reported last week, O2 is planning to reduce its Apple iPhone tariffs in preparation for the next generation of the iPhone, to be unveiled this Summer.

According to Mobile Today, the 8GB iPhone will be available free from May on the £35/month tariff (previously it was free on the $45 one); the 16GB iPhone 3G, previously free only on the £75 tariff, will be available free on the £45 tariff.

Mobile Today also says that Orange has been in talks with Apple to also become a carrier for the next-gen iPhone which means O2 would lose its exclusivity deal. However, O2 has said that its iPhone deal with Apple is 'multi-device' and 'multi-year'.
